Hi!  We are The Great Gatsbys! We are a Lego League Robotics team from Minnesota, comprised of three eighth graders and one sixth grader. One quarter of our team is new this year, but all of us are very
passionate about robotics, STEM, and FIRST LEGO League!  We met remotely for our entire season, as one of our members and a coach have an auto-immune system disease, which presented additional challenges to overcome. It wasn’t easy, but we came together in a way we never have before as a Lego League Team. We bonded through this experience this season in what was otherwise a year of isolation and separation. We had to work harder, which made us
more resilient and brought us closer together as a team and as friends. In past competitions, you could find our team based on the 1920’s outfits we were wearing, our root beer calling cards, or perhaps by the swing-dance flash mob we hosted at last year’s State
Championship. You might assume that our team name (The Great Gatsbys!) came about because of our 1920’s team theme, but that isn’t the case at all. We are actually the only Lego League team that we know of to also have a canine member, a dog named “Gatsby”, who was the inspiration for our team name. He has attended all of our meetings for the past two years, and even was able to participate remotely in competition this year.

In FIRST Lego League Robotics, aside from the obvious robotics and STEM component of the competition, there is a yearly theme, which a project centers around. This years theme was Activity Levels in People. We decided to focus on Senior Citizens. Minus a few thousand words, here we are!
